Sony reveals new PSVR model to release soon with slight changes ahead

What’s up PlayStation Nation,

If you’re still on the fence about VR Sony has made a few changes that could possibly change your mind and maybe place the peripheral up your buyers list. Per the PlayStation blog the new updated PSVR FAQ post detailed the changes ahead:

Is there a new PlayStation VR model? How is it different?

A hardware update to PlayStation VR is being prepared. The new version, model number CUH-ZVR2, features an updated design that enables the stereo headphone cables to be integrated with the VR headset and a slimmer, streamlined connection cable. There’s also an updated Processor Unit that supports HDR pass through, enabling users to enjoy HDR-compatible PS4 content on a TV without having to disconnect the Processor Unit in between the TV and the PS4 system. This function can be used only when the VR headset is turned off.

When will the new PS VR model become available in North America? How much will it be?

We will share details on the launch timing in North America at a later date. The pricing of the PS VR bundles will remain the same.

How can I distinguish between the old PS VR headset and the new one when I’m purchasing?

The packaging for PlayStation VR will change slightly when the new model hits stores. To differentiate, look for the model number printed on the box. The previous PS VR’s model number is CUH-ZVR1, and the new PS VR’s model number is CUH-ZVR2. Also, the product image on the packaging will be updated to show changes on the new model, like the integrated headphones on the VR headset.

If I already own a PS VR, can I swap out my old Processor Unit with the updated one?

Because the cables of CUH-ZVR1 and CUH-ZVR2 are different, you cannot swap the Processor Units.

Are the PS VR games I already own compatible with the new model?

Yes, all PS VR games are compatible with both PS VR models.

Editors opinion: “Me personally this makes me more eager to purchase a PSVR after now acquiring a 4K HDR television ( Which I am currently an 1 week old owner of such). I initially planned on purchasing a PSVR by 2018 anyway so this is actually perfect. At any rate I feel this creates an incentive to purchase a PSVR even more now.

How do you feel about this news? Does this create even more or less of a reason to buy. Current owners of the new PSVR model what are your thoughts? Comment below and let us know. For news like this and more make sure to check with us here at Whats Up PlayStation.

Persona 5 Standard Edition Comes With A Little Extra

What’s Up PlayStation Nation,

It’s been almost 4 years since we’ve been introduced to the gaming goodness known as Persona 5. The 5th entry into the series has been highly anticipated among JRPG and PlayStation fans alike. Since it’s  2013 TGS reveal fans have been chomping at the bit to get their hands on this anticipated gem. Although our far-eastern PlayStation family have had their hands on the title since September 2016. Atlus seems to be willing to make good on the wait for the western fans by giving us something special even for those of you who haven’t pre-ordered the limited steel book edition and “Take Your Heart” collectors edition. But have no fear Atlus has you covered.  All standard editions will include a limited edition controller sticker. Which I personally think is really cool by the way.

Persona 5lect

This will be included in limited amounts of the standard editions I presume. So make sure to check your local listings to get your hands on one of these limited controller skins as supplies may be limited. I must add these skins look pretty darn sweet. As of now word on if these skins are included in any other editions but this provides a nice little incentive for those who may be feeling left out or were unable to snag a steel book or collectors edition. Atlus has also included a tutorial video for those who may need a little bit of help on applying the skins to your Dual-Shock 4 controllers which you can check out the video below:

Persona 5 is only a few short weeks away and released April 4th. Are you interested in picking up this title? Or does this give you incentive, or motivation to purchase this upcoming game? Comment below and let us know. For this and all things PlayStation make sure to check back with us here at What’s Up PlayStation.

Street Fighter V – Story Expansion: A Shadow Falls Available for pre-loading

What’s Up PlayStation Nation,

The real Street Fight is almost here!

Street Fighter V since launch hasn’t received the most luxurious response from the causal side of gamers, who enjoys fighting games. But it seems after the critically negative feedback they’ve received from server issues at launch and abysmal communication to the community on features and DLC characters. Capcom is seeking to right it’s wrongs and actually follow through with it’s promise of delivering a fully new cinematic story mode for those seeking a bit more from Street Fighter V, than playing online against other players via Casual or Ranked matches. Well today that wait ends (well almost) as you currently can download the story add-on for pre-load. (Click the photo to go directly to the store link.)

sf story

The story mode expansion will be available for playing this weekend: July 1st to be exact. As you can see it will take about 7.6 GB on your HDD space. As stated previously the story mode takes place between the events of Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter III. And is said to range between 3-4 hours of play time. What do you want to see in the story expansion? Are you excited for the upcoming expansion or do you think it’s too little, too late? Comment below let us know!
