Farpoint: The New PS VR Exclusive

What’s Up PlayStation Nation,

A plethora of PSVR games, were announced during PlayStation’s E3 2016 press conference. But there is one that stood out tremendously from all the games shown. That game is called Farpoint. Coming to exclusively to PS VR, when it launches on October 13th this year When I saw Farpoint, I instantly got the concept they were trying to convey within the trailer. Farpoint is a Sci-fi first person shooter, where the player is left stranded on a hostile alien planet. Players will have to survive, as they explore this rigorous yet mysterious planet.

In my opinion, “This is one of those VR experiences needed, to sell consumers weary about purchasing a VR headset.”

During E3, the small development team- Impulse Gear are also working really close with Sony Interactive Entertainment(SIE). To bring PSVR players a new experience with VR introducing the PSVR aim controller.

PSVR Aim Controller

Here is more information on the PSVR aim controller from the PlayStation Blog:

The PS VR Aim Controller offers the most realistic and precise way to control our game. With direct 1 to 1 tracking, you aim in Farpoint just as you would in real life. How you hold and where you point the controller are directly matched in the game. This allows you to do things in Farpoint that just are not possible in a standard FPS game. It also provides an unbelievable sense of presence in the virtual world.

What Are We Really Expecting From Next Gen Gaming

What’s Up PlayStation Nation,

In 2013 when we were on the cusp of entering this generation of gaming we had all these expectations of gaming. There were questions like… What resolution will these games be? What are these new games going to look like? What features will be implemented with the consoles and the games? Will we really notice a difference between last gen and this one? Well here we are 3 years later and yes, next gen is here and I do think people are not really ready for it based off some reactions from Sony’s 2016 E3 presentation.

First off, Sony came out swinging with it’s God of War 4 presentation. God of War looked more realistic than it ever has before. The rich environment, life like presentation of Kratos, a giant deer that looked so real you could almost touch it, and some of the most intense combat ever presented on stage was breath taking but after all of that you had people left with a feeling of this is not the God of War they knew. I do not blame them for the thought, actually, I had the exact same thought. This was the next gen difference, the reason we upgraded, the proof that all the hard work the game devs and the PlayStation engineers put in was showing up. Sure, if looks unfamiliar, but it is supposed to. Games in 2016 are not supposed to look or feel like a game made in 2006.

A little later in the conference they showed their VR presentation and as a fan i could not have been more impressed. Some of our most anticipated titles, Final Fantasy XV, Resident Evil 7 and Star Wars: Battlefront showed their VR adaptations and some people are still on the fence. I understand that until people actually have access to VR the will not grasp the full potential of it, but I personally have tried it. Let me tell you something about life… VR is a GAME CHANGER!!! It is hard to get the experience from outside the visor without a headset on but you can put trust in me that the VR experience is definitely the next step in gaming. Does it change the way some of these games are presented, of course it does. VR is designed to put you in the games not just let you watch what you already see on screen.

Last thing I will talk about is the appearance of Crash Bandicoot in Skylanders. I know for a lot of people this is a bit of a let down, but this is step one in getting the next gen Crash. Skylander’s version of Crash will probably be the best we see him look for a good minute and he will be the perfect add on in a game as character rich as Skylanders. The future starts here and I can guarantee you that the overhaul of the Crash Bandicoot experience will be a joy ride though Skylanders and the remaster of 3 previous games to get you ready for his comeback.

In closing, next gen gaming means we have to be prepared for the unknown. Some of the things we see will seem uncomfortable and unfamiliar but to experience gaming in the next gen we have to venture into the unknown as these developers try to bring us the most immersive and dynamic experiences possible. You can not be willing to buy the new consoles to not try the new experiences. Each new adventure starts with the first step. I hope your shoes are tied tight and you have packed a lunch. Next gen gaming is here. You do not have to be afraid of evolution.

Spiderman Comes Exclusively to PlayStation 4

What’s Up PlayStation Nation,

Before the PlayStation E3 press conference, my spidey senses were tingling about a new Spiderman game coming to Next Generation. Well I’m happy to announce, a new Spiderman game is coming exclusively to PlayStation 4. Surprisedly enough, Insomniac Games are the developers creating the game.

My personal opinion: “I am super stoked for this new Spiderman game. Spiderman is my favorite Superhero of all time. And seeing him exclusively on PS4, being done by a respectful studio. My eagerness and enthusiasm for this game is at a all time high. I can’t wait for more info on the game”

Here are some more details from Insomniac Byran Intihar, on Spiderman PS4:

“From a personal and professional standpoint, this is a dream come true. I’ve been an avid Marvel fan all my life. When I first learned Insomniac was approached by our long-time friends and collaborators at Sony Interactive Entertainment with the opportunity to create a blockbuster Spider-Man console game experience, I practically ran into Ted’s office professing my passion for Spider-Man – along with a desire to serve as creative director. Fortunately, there are many more longtime fans and professional admirers of Marvel at Insomniac. From comics to films and TV, Marvel has a stellar reputation for unique characters and storytelling filled with personality and humor. Those are tenets we value deeply in our own craft.

From our first meeting, Marvel, Spider-Man and Insomniac have felt like a match made in heaven. So much so that for the first time in Insomniac’s 22-year history, we’re working on an IP that didn’t originate in-house. We love building big games, with incredible gameplay, deep stories, and beautiful graphics. Spider-Man is one of the most iconic and well-known characters in the world, and we’re thrilled to be given the responsibility to create a brand-new, authentic Spider-Man story. Nope, this isn’t the same Spider-Man you’ve met before, nor is our game based on the upcoming movie. This is a more seasoned Peter Parker who’s more masterful at fighting big crime in New York City. At the same time, he’s struggling to balance his absurdly chaotic personal life and career. All while nine million New Yorkers depend on him for their safety… no pressure indeed.

This collaboration also allows us to quickly return to action developing on PS4. Having released Ratchet & Clank, we feel confident in our ability to create a showpiece for the console. And we’re downright giddy bringing Spidey’s acrobatic abilities, improvisation, and web-slinging to life. But we also want to introduce new elements that players have never experienced with Spider-Man, ranging from traversing with parkour and utilizing the environment, to new combat and blockbuster set-pieces.”

Sony Bend Reveals New IP “Days Gone”

What’s Up PlayStation Nation!

At long last Sony Bend finally revealed their brand new IP “Days Gone” during Sony E3 press conference. Uncharted; Golden Abyss for PS Vita, Sony Bend last game they worked on was four years ago.

The guys at Dualshockers were able to find more information and features about the game that wasn’t talked about during the conference. You can read the details below.

Days Gone is an open-world action game set in the high-desert of the Pacific Northwest two years after a mysterious global pandemic has decimated the world, killing most but transforming millions into mindless, feral creatures. Survivors live in a world where resources are scarce, violence and murder are common and Freakers roam the wilderness.

Players face this violent, new world as Deacon St. John, a bounty hunter, a Drifter who lives in the lawless wilderness outside the civilian encampments. Deacon survives by using skills learned before the world ended, riding for the Mongrels MC, an outlawed motorcycle club, where violence and mayhem were part of the riding the open road.

At the center of it all, Days Gone is an exploration of how any of us would react to these harsh conditions, and exploration of loss, love, friendship, revenge and desperation – learning that surviving isn’t living. For Deacon especially, it’s a struggle to ensure that hope never dies.

Developed by Bend Studio, Days Gone is in development exclusively for the PlayStation 4.

Expansive Open World Action – Exemplifying truly free-form gameplay, Days Gone offers freedom to explore, strategize and play “your way” in the vast high-desert of the Pacific Northwest. The hazardous environments, filled with carved out ridges, mountains, caves, cliffs mines and river basins, deliver a breathtaking backdrop to an equally diverse style of gameplay.

Emergent Gameplay – Featuring fully explorable environments and dynamic AI enemies, players will rely on their own abilities to strategize, craft weapons and tools, explore the world, and engage in combat. With almost every car, building and environment searchable, Days Gone delivers emergent gameplay possibilities, making a player’s approach to combat and discovery a vital part of the experience.

Stunning, Dynamic Graphics – Using the power of PlayStation 4 and Unreal Engine 4, Bend Studio has developed a high volume of rendering and gameplay technology to deliver an incredibly realistic open world experience. Realistic weather effects, such as rain, wind, snow and day-night cycles impact the gameplay. The game’s lighting is all real-time and reacts dynamically, the way the human iris does, as players move from one location to the next.

The game is still currently in development with no release date. Check out the beautiful screenshots and trailer below.
