SingStar Celebration is the new addition to our PlayLink family and as part of the range, you’ll be able to turn your compatible smartphone into a personal, pocket-sized microphone! The SingStar Mic is a free app for Android and iOS which will be available to download the same day the game releases.

The community is already alive and well as you can check out the thousands of fans singing their favorite tracks in the community here. Also you can get a sneak peak of the track listing here and add it to you Spotify playlist below:

Editors Opinion: Games like SingStar are great for parties, Although I haven’t taken part in any Karaoke events in a while. The Sing star series is great for kids and adults alike and if you’re familiar with the activeness from the PS3 community as it’s grown into the PS4 community the Sing Star Brand is one of PlayStation’s Hidden gems. Even at events like PSX (which we’ll have footage and articles of) You’ll come find that it’s one of PlayStation’s beloved franchised all while being in a niche gaming space. And with Android and iOS supported devices this has the possibility to expand into the next generation of PlayStation Gamer. Because who remembers having to pay for SingStar Mics right?

What do you think? Are you interested in this SingStar title? Are the tracks on this track-list to your liking? Comment below and let us know. For news like this and more make sure to check back with us here at What’s Up PlayStation.

Editors Opinion: If you’ve been a bit disappointed with the recent iteration of star ocean. This may be the title you’ve been looking for depending on your taste. I know for me personally this was of the star ocean games that took me a bit of a while to progress in but the grind was worthwhile. Star Ocean is one of my most adored franchised that I was introduced to in my early PlayStation days. (Thanks my best friend John S. for that)

With that being said what do you think of this news are you interested in playing this Star Ocean Title? Have you play any of the other star ocean games or will this be your first Star Ocean game. More news will be released in the near future (PSX/Capcom Cup Finals, or PGW) here’s what capcom had to say in closing per the PS Blog.

As we promised in the past, the initial purchase of Street Fighter V is still the only one that you’ll need as the new gameplay-related content in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition will be part of a free in-game update for current players once it releases! That means if you currently play Street Fighter V, you won’t need to purchase anything else to get Arcade Mode, Extra Battle Mode, etc. – you’ll just need to download the update! For those who don’t currently have Street Fighter V, you’ll be able to purchase Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition for $39.99, which will include everything we’ve mentioned above. We wanted to make sure there’s something to celebrate for both current and new players alike.

Editors Opinion: As a fan and lover of the Street Fighter Series this is good news and I hope that it can refresh and ignite a general interest in fans of the series and the FGC community. As many competitive Fighters are on the Rise (Dragon Ball Fighterz, Blazeblue Tag Battle etc.) Capcom has to remind the world the reason why street fighter has lasted for so many years (30 to be exact) and rekindle that competitive edge. Let’s see if this gives them that edge they so desperately need.

But enough of my thoughts what do you think of this news. Does this interest you to make time and the effort of purchasing the long respected fighter again or for the first time this gen? As you know with this news you can expect “The Online Arcade to have many more Tournament with this great news. With that being said comment below and let us know your thoughts. For more news make sure to keep it locked here at Whats Up PlayStation.

Gran Turismo Sport: Free Limited Time Demo Launching October 9th

What’s Up PlayStation Nation,

If you’re a racing enthusiast I’m certain many of you have been salivating for a taste of Gran Turismo sport. Well wait no longer as of October 9th PlayStation will release a limited time demo for you to experience prior to the official release of Gran Turismo Sport which is set to release October 17th.

The demo is set to run for free but for a limited time which is from October 9th to October 12th. Also it should be noted that PS Plus users will be able to pre-load the demo as of October 7th. Which means this may be a bit of a hefty download. At any rate the demo will be available for preload October 7th at 8:00am PT, with access to the game on October 9th, at 12:00am PT. For everyone else, download and access to the demo starts October 9th at 6:00pm PT. The demo officially ends October 12th at 8:00am PT.

It should also be noted that the demo has a currency limit of up to 1MM of which can be transferred to the full game upon release. As well any vehicle that you may unlock during your demo play time will be transferable to your main game on October 17th.

This limited time demo will also give fans a in-depth preview of the full game’s features. This demo will be geared toward all levels of drivers, from first timers to 20 year veterans of the franchise. You drive and tune on your own terms, while the new matchmaking system ensures you’re always racing against others of similar abilities.

At the start of the demo, drivers will have the option to experience a taste of Sport, Campaign, or Arcade mode. New features such as the innovative Scapes Photography mode and Custom Livery Editor are also available for the very first time. More details for the limited time demo are detailed below via the PS Blog:

Gran Turismo Sport

In Sport mode, drivers can prove just how fast they are by putting down their fastest lap time. At the end of each qualifying session, it’s an all-out battle against other drivers with similar performance abilities ensuring each race is equal, fair, and highly competitive.

Gran Turismo Sport

Campaign mode gives players the chance to improve their driving skills across numerous challenges, missions, and circuit experiences. Each of these modes play a key role in making every driver better prepared for racing online against others. As you complete various trial and Daily Workouts, you will be awarded with numerous vehicle unlocks, in-game currency, and Experience Points, furthering your Driver Profile and personal garage.

Gran Turismo Sport

For those looking to just jump in and drive, the Arcade mode offers a wide range of vehicle classes on three pre-selected circuit configurations with different terrains. Whether you want to go for high-speed oval racing on Northern Isle, hone your technical skills on Dragon Trail, or drift sideways through the corners in rally, race on your own terms as you choose from multiple driving aids including braking and or steering to hone your skills. You can also race against a friend offline in the classic 2-player split screen mode.

Gran Turismo Sport

The True HDR workflow and physics-based rendering tech of Scapes must be experienced firsthand to be truly appreciated. This is not your traditional photo mode as each photo location contains all the light energy information of that scene, enabling you to place your personalized car in hundreds of real world locations.

To round out the demo experience, the Livery Editor allows you to add your own personal touch of customization through numerous logo designs. You can also change the color of the car, wheels, mirrors, hood, spoiler, and much more.

More insider information and videos will be released via GT Academy athletes and more as well in the coming weeks prior to release.

Editors Opinion: Although I’m not a sim racing fan I am open to giving this demo a try. I’m sure more experience GT fans are more informed on this game and are more than satisfied with what is being offered prior to the full game release. I am however interested in seeing this game with the HDR and all intact. And I am more than willing to give the Arcade mode a shot as I am more inclined to playing Arcade racers than Sims.

But enough of my thoughts what do you think. What Features would you like to see for Gran Turismo Sport. Are the offerings enough or would you like to see more implemented for the full game? Comment below and let us know. For more news make sure to check back with us here at What’s Up PlayStation.

Andrew House Steps Down as President & Chief Executive of Sony Interactive Entertainment

What’s Up PlayStation Nation,

In an abrupt wave of shock and multiple outlets reporting, It has been revealed that PlayStation Boss, President and Chief Executive Andrew House has stepped down from his position in SIE effective immediately as Deputy President John Kodera will assume his position. It has been stated that “House will remain on as a director and the chairman of SIE “through the year to ensure a smooth transition,” the statement said.

As of now there is no specific reasoning behind this move as it has caught many of us off guard in the same manner that the departure of former PS Boss Jack Tretton leaving PlayStation as Shawn Layden assumed his role.

Sources from Polygon report: House has been with Sony since 1990 and, after moving from corporate communications into marketing for what was then called Sony Computer Entertainment, he was involved in the launch of the first PlayStation. He took over as president and chief executive of SCE (SIE since 2016) in 2011, replacing Kazuo Hirai, who is now the president and chief executive of all of Sony.

Alongside this news via the Wallstreet Journal it reports that  The sales of 78 million PlayStation 4’s  have been sold under House’s leadership and PlayStation has grown into subscriber base of 70 million. It also noted the launches of PlayStation Vue and PlayStation VR under his term. “He has grown the Game and Network Services segment into one of the key profit drivers for the Sony Group,” the statement said.

“PlayStation has been a huge part of my life for more than 20 years but with the business having achieved record-breaking success, now seemed to be the right time for me to pursue new challenges,” House said in Sony’s statement. “John and the team at SIE are world-class and I know the future of PlayStation is very bright.”

It should be noted however that John Kodera has been with the PlayStation brand for while also as he has played a role in creating partnerships launches such as PlayStation Vue, PlayStation Video, and PlayStation Music, which is partnered with Spotify.

Upon the news of the change in roles Kodera stated:

“I intend to build on the amazing progress Andy has made enhancing the PlayStation brand and expanding the game and network services business,” Kodera said in Sony’s statement, “and will strive to further strengthen the unique value proposition we are able to offer via the PlayStation platform.”

Editors Opinion: We can only hope as PlayStation fans that the transition is smooth and that this change won’t effect the current quality of games and flow of things we’ve come to love this PlayStation generation. It also makes me curious as toward how the PS5 and PlayStation Experience events will change or if they will continue to transpire going forward. I’m not too educated on the inner workings of this level of business so from the outside looking in as a fan. One can only hope this doesn’t drastically effect what we know and love from the PlayStation Brand.

Enough of my thoughts, tell us what you think of this news so far? How do you think it will affect the PlayStation Brand? What do you want and do not want to see? Comment below and let us know. For more news make sure to check back with us here at What’s Up PlayStation.
