What’s up PlayStation Nation,

2018 is set to kick off right as it’s confirmed that God Of War is set to release on consoles this spring as it has been officially announced via the PS Blog where Sony Santa Monica Alum Cory Barlog States:

I would love to write a long blog post here but, apparently, I have a game to get done by 4/20 so I gotta get back to work as soon as possible.

God of War (PS4)

God of War (PS4)God of War (PS4)

First, let me say that this is my favorite release day of my entire career. If I live to be 100, I do not think I will be able to top this release day.

There has been a long journey just to reach this point, so it’s a little bittersweet to think that we are only a few months away from that journey finally coming to an end. While I am sad, I am also excited because it means everyone will get their hands on this crazy adventure we have been crafting for nearly five years!

You can check out the trailer below!

So, April 20, 2018…mark the date on your calendar, people. Clear that schedule, tell your significant other they are wonderful, because that is always a nice thing to do, and then wonder what you will do with all that free time you have now that you don’t need to keep asking me when the release date is.

Thank you everyone for your continued support of our game-making addiction. I will do my best to keep sharing information as we head towards launch.

Catherine: Full Body heading to PS4 and PS Vita

What’s Up PlayStation Nation,

If you’re a fan of Atlus games there’s a been a lot of hearsay prior to today’s official new and it started by way of speculation via twitter user Nibel. Who recently stated that there were rumors of PS3 titles being looked into for future re-releasing.

From there the speculation grew as many hoped it would be either a remake of demon souls but that title was only published via Atlus for the U.S. release as it wouldn’t make sense for such an announcement to be made. Lo and behold  after many twitter users speculated on the title.

We were given confirmation not even 24 hours later that Catherine: Full Body is in currently in development for PS4 and PS Vita users..(In Japan) But it’s safe to assume this will hit stateside. As of now there is no word on if this will release on other competitive platforms but the PS4 and PS Vita release is certain. But aside from the news of the release Atlus released a statement regarding the upcoming PS4/PS Vita remake.

The new version of the puzzle game will feature a bit of  brand new content not found in the original release such as:

  • A third Catherine.
  • New cut scenes for the previous heroines
  • New endings
  • New events
  • New gameplay mechanics
  • A new mode
  • Online battles

More will be revealed as the remake nears release however but this is definitely good news for those who are interested in the title.

(Editors Opinion: Back during the PS3 generation I only played the demo but I loved the music and presentation of the game. I was thoroughly interested but never got around to playing the final game as I was a bit wrapped up in others [Sleeping dogs, War For Cybertron and Borderlands 2 with friends at the time] However with this news of the upcoming release I am very interested and will most definitely purchase and maybe even attempt to platinum this. On the flip side however I am a bit disappointed that announcements like these weren’t made for events like this years PSX. It definitely shows an opening for a missed opportunity. Even if this game is set to appear on other platforms it’s announcements like these these reach the hardcore PlayStation gamer and establishes confirmation of why gamers choose the PlayStation brand.)

What do you think of this title being released for the PS4 and PS Vita? Are you interested in this game? Would you pick this up now if you missed out on the previous generation release? Comment below let us know. For news like this and more make sure to check back with us here at What’s Up PlayStation.

Devil May Cry HD Collection announced for PS4 in 2018

What’s Up PlayStation Nation,

If you’ve been needing a Dante the demon hunter fix whelp us here at What’s Up PlayStation have some good news to report as Capcom announced some good news. Capcom is bringing Devil May Cry HD Collection to PlayStation 4 and other consoles both physically and digitally on March 13, 2018 for $29.99.

The Devil May Cry HD collection, which first released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in April 2012, will include various editions of the particular Released of the Game here’s what you can expect detailed below:

Devil May Cry (2001)

This is the one that started it all, starring a mature and subdued Dante, which matched the mood and tempo of the game’s sense of isolation during the exploration sequences and tough-as-nails boss battles. It’s also the game that inspired my favorite TV game ad of all time:

Devil May Cry 2 (2003)

Taking place after the events of the first Devil May Cry, this sequel strives for a more cinematic look and feel to combat, changing things up in how the camera behaves, but also taking extreme care to make the animations more natural and fluid. Plus, you can unlock and play as Trish, featuring her own unique weapons and move set.

Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition (2006)

Focusing on the origins of our favorite demon hunter, this prequel features a much younger and more rambunctious Dante who cares very little about how much damage he’s doing to even his own shop as long as he can chew his pizza and kick some butt. And he runs out of pizza.

Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition quickly took the spotlight as a fan favorite with the addition of combat Styles that significantly change the way you slay demons. These Styles can be selected and upgraded between each mission. This game also put a spotlight on Dante’s relationship with his twin brother Vergil, who is an unlockable character with his own move set and gameplay.

(Editor’s Opinion: I love the Devil May Cry series and it’s sad to say that up to this day I’ve yet to finish Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition. However since hearing the news of this re-release for Current-Gen consoles. I look forward to playing these. Me personally I love the 2nd Devil May Cry the most. So I definitely look forward to earning the platinum’s on these HD editions of the games. This is a must have title if it were up to me for Hack and Slash Action lovers. Devil May Cry is one of my most favorite series stemming from the PS2 generation. I can’t wait to get my hands on these titles.)

Jak PS2 Collection Heading to PS4 as “PS2 on PS4 Classics” this December

What’s Up PlayStation Nation!

As you may have previously read we recently reported on a deal  Jak and Daxter being on sale via CDkeys.net for a whopping 3 bucks. Now as reported via the PS Blog. In efforts to complete the circle completely: Jak II, Jak III and Jak Racing is new heading to PS4 as a PS2 on PS4 classic. You will have the option to purchase these title as a bundle or individually.  Check out the trailer below and find out what the Bryan Pardilla of SIEA had to say:

Jak 3 on PS4

Jak II on PS4Jak X Combat Racing on PS4

On October 14, 2003, Naughty Dog released Jak II for the PlayStation 2 system, and something amazing happened for the Jak and Daxter franchise: Jak was able to speak for the first time, enabling players to hear and experience Jak’s own point of view using his voice, instead of relying solely on Daxter’s witty banter and exposition. This was the start of something special, and the franchise continued to reach new heights with the release of Jak 3 and Jak X, in part because of this one simple addition.

Jak II on PS4

By giving Jak a voice, it allowed Naughty Dog to explore new narrative techniques that allowed them to create a grittier world with a much more developed and evolved storyline. Jak and Daxter evolved from whimsical lighthearted platforming characters to a much darker vision of a future’s past world where Jak and Daxter find themselves pitted against multiple dark forces moving against them.

Jak II on PS4

The narrative tropes Naughty Dog explored in Jak and Daxter laid the foundation for the evolution of their highly innovative story telling. It put them on the path that led to the creation of future blockbuster franchises like Uncharted and The Last of Us— and to think it all started with giving Jak his own voice.

Jak 3 on PS4

In celebration of Naughty Dog’s rich heritage, it is with great pleasure that we present to you these Jak & Daxter classics on the PS4.

Wait, there’s more! To help make experiencing these games even more nostalgic, please check out the Legacy Dashboard Theme ($2.99) on the PlayStation Store, also available on December 6.

Legacy Dashboard Theme

(Editors Opinion: I’m very stoked to play these games although a bit frustration due to bad camera restraints of the First Jak and Daxter. I am looking forward to probably adding these titles to the list of games completed for my inner trophy whore. However I must admit since prior to the recent PS2 on PS4 release, I hadn’t played the Jak Series until recently. But since playing these titles I am definitely looking forward to experiencing this classic again. However a part of me wishes that it was a full fledged remake on par with the Ratchet and Clank re-imagining.)

But enough of what we think. What do you think of this news are you interested in replaying these if you have played these before? Are you interested or uninterested in the Jak series. Comment below let us know. For news like this and more make sure to keep us bookmarked and as always be sure to check back with us here at What’s Up PlayStation.

Check out the trailer below:

(Editors Opinion: I’ve long waited for this game to reach U.S PS Stores. I’ve actually downloaded this via the EU PSN and there wasn’t anyway to play to this as it was region blocked which was such a disappointment because I was sooo eager to get in on the action. However this game looks fun and gives a Dragon Crown-ish type feel if you’ve noticed in the trailer! At any rate this game looks to be a fun experience.)
